I was given several cuttings(with scants roots) of aloe vera plants.

Any special plantings suggestions? Big pot, small pots or special soil?

Assuming the cuts have healed over, put the scabbed-over side about an inch deep in pots of moistened cactus and succulent potting mix. Firm the soil around to hold the cutting upright. Put the pot in the warmest, brightest spot you have and make sure to allow the soil to dry out completely before you water again. Happy aloes can get to be some size. They may look lost in a large pot at first, but given their spines, transplanting them can be a challenge, so choose a size in which they will be happy for awhile.

I was going to comment but see that Douglas has answered your question! I was given an Aloe that had pups in the pot and can tell you they have since been removed and planted up to make new plants and the aloe flowered - a long stem with lovely little orange flowers along the stem. Then after the flowers died it has put out more pups! You might want to 'spread the love' and give some pups away as you get more and more of them! They seem to be very prolific!
