Mason Jars + Herbs = Wonderfully Whimsical Herb Garden. An easy project to make and perfect to give as gifts.
You probably have most of the materials at home. Of course I'm partial to Mason Jars but any glass jar will work. Think upcycling! Now grab a piece of scrap wood, or new wood, or even a cupboard door! The only thing I had to purchase was a hose clamp or two (or 10) at the hardware store.
Now get creative! Think of all the different ways you can hange your jars. Horizontal, vertical, angled....
Of course adding a bit of chalkboard paint makes everything a bit better, right?!!
Mother's Day is coming up! So is gardening season *squeal* and what a more fun way to start those seeds in doors. Or whip up a few and sell them at a local craft faire like I did =) SEE FULL INSTRUCTIONS AT THE LINK BELOW

Edward Lyon on May 04, 2014What do you do about drainage? Herbs require excellent drainage in almost all cases.

Day2day SuperMom on May 09, 2014@Edward Lyon Great question Edward! Not all the pictures & directions are listed here (complete tutorial on my blog). I added gravel to the bottom of the jars but it is hard to see because a little of the soil washes around it.. I like to start my herbs here and then as they get big I move them to a container outside so they can grow HUGE! =)
