Gold Leaf Planter Box

A great planter box perfect for a Mother's Day Gift. This one is just a purchased plain wood picket fence planter box (source in the blog post) that has been painted. The touch of gold leaf at the top of each picket is an added bonus that really makes this one shine.
This is the finished box with the gorgeous gold leaf details. Box is the perfect size for two terra cotta pots in your choice of colors. Add colorful flowers or house plants to give as a gift.
Start by masking off the area you want to be gold leafed. I use spray adhesive to adhere the gold leaf.
Remove tape and apply gold leaf carefully. Then use a dry brush to remove all excess gold leaf. The blog post also contains tips and tricks for gold leafing and clean up cause boy it can make a mess!
You will also need to be sure to protect the gold leaf on your project. Grab some outdoor formula Mod Podge for this purpose. Don't worry it won't effect the leafing at all!
