French Arm Chair

I love French style, whether more formal or the farmhouse style. “There are certain Classic styles that immediately evoke the style of a French salon” (Josephine Ryan ‘French Home’).
The French have been known for their penchant for detail in furniture and decorating. There is something so distinct in the development of taste in furniture, marked out by the three styles to which the three monarchs have given the names of “Louis Quatorze,” “Louis Quinze,” and “Louis Seize,” that it affords a fitting point for a new departure. I have seen in many lovely homes these beautiful chairs. Whether sitting in a boudoir, alongside a farmhouse style table or along a wall, these sweet little chairs add grace and elegance to a room’s decor. I have long appreciated French style. In decor, in gardening, in gourmet, and in living. There’s something quite distinct in the French way of life. This is my first French chair, I am quite sure it won't be my last as I am making plans for changes in several rooms of our home. This chair is a good start.

I have one somewhat the same style...I was told by an antique dealer it was from the late 1800s, valued at between $1,000 and $3,000. Mine had been reupholstered back in the 50s with needlepoint back and seat, it is the highlight of my dining room. Rosewood, hand carved, a real heirloom! Yours is so very close to mine, i had to tell ya! Wonderful.
