Spring Pillow From a Hardware Store Drop Cloth #SpringIdeas

I'm not really a big seasonal decorator. I like to decorate my house, get it perfect, and then... leave it! (Hey, it's all I can do to stay on top of cleaning up after my kids, let alone changing up my whole decorating scheme four times a year!) However, after a long, and I mean looooong, cold winter, I was eager to brighten things up on the homefront!
I wanted to create a pillow that was a blank canvas but also had some texture. I finally decide to try out the drop cloth trend that has been buzzing around. I always thought it would be much too rough to use in my home.
However, my pal Barbara at Chase the Star, suggested washing it first, and after I did, it was much softer! I was so impressed. And when it comes to cost to value ratio, $16 for a 5x12 piece of fabric?! You can't beat that!
The painting was also super easy - I used simple household objects to stamp the fabric paint on over a freezer paper stencil, and then used iron on vinyl for the text. It really added that perfect spring pop of colour that I was looking for, and I may just have to make one of these for every season ;)
