How to make bathroom look bigger ?
My bathroom is narrow looking, with enough day light coming in, but it has a red flooring which I couldn't be able to change right now. So I have to tolerate it some more time. I want to make it look bigger and want to offset the red a bit. The walls are covered with cream tiles with maroon patterns on it. How can I decorate it so it gets a new look ? I don't like to change the hardware much... Can any one suggest anything ?

Donna Byram on May 10, 2014Pictures would definitely help, but since we don't have them maybe these ideas will help. ~New shower curtain with a wide strip across the bottom or top in maroon and cream or even a darker cream. No Ruffles they seem to take up space and make it feel smaller. A more tailored look will help your room. ~Purchase a matching rug for in front of the sink to break up the red on the floor. ~Do you have any walls that you can paint? IF so paint the walls to match the cream color in your tile. ~Another thing I have found is that getting rid of any clutter on the counters, and etc helps to make a room look bigger. If you have to have things out, maybe put the necessary items in a basket or decorative box to tidy it up. ~ What about your vanity Mirror? If you have a double sink vanity and a long solid mirror, Put two mirrors in its place. For a single sink vanity, a framed mirror or if needed a cabinet with mirror. ~The more wall space you can acquire will make the room look more spacious. Hope the pictures will help inspire you and solve some of your issues.Helpful Reply

Kara Spurlock on May 10, 2014Paint the floor, or paint the tile. It can transform a room and very budget friendly. I painted linoleum floor in our half bathroom and was totally worth it!Helpful Reply

Moxie on May 10, 2014I agree with Kara..paint the floor..I did in my bathroom and I just love it! I also got a really cool shower curtain on line from Target that help make it more modern! I used Lowes porch and floor paint on the subfloor (after patching with wood filler/sand) and several coats of poly. It hold up and cleans easily.Helpful Reply
