Old Old Dresser

This old dresser had seen better days. Someone had made deep gouges in the top and drawers - I am sure there were many in it and they decided to add to it.
My husband was so sweet and sanded the best he could.
He thinks this dresser is around 80 years old. You can see the gouging here on the drawers.
Not sure if these side boards are original or added .....
I washed it up and painted it all with Kilns. It stunk too. Musty.
At first I was going to paint the sides white but.....seemed like a lot of work taping and all.
I ordered a daisy stencil from Joann Fabrics. My first attempt wasn't that good but I got the hang of it. I haven't stenciled for years. Kinda fun!
you can still see all the gouges but I think it is okay.
I stenciled white on the black on the top, back and sides.
this is now in my craft room - a nice addition.
Enjoyed the project?

Have a question about this project?
Hi, I love what you have done with the dresser!! What type of paint did you use to paint the dresser and did you put a sealant on it?
Thank you Val
What kind of paint do you use on a dresser that is 60 years old .. it's 'shiny' blonde, and I don't think it was expensive. The drawers are raw wood, but the outside is 'shiny',,,,, & smooth. No gouges or anything in it. Do you think I would have to sand it down? Any suggestions would be so welcome. Thanks
