HOUSE PLANT BUGS
-
Lavende on May 12, 2014What kind of bugs are they? Do they fly and look like mini fruit flies? For those, let the soil dry out (just water your plants as little as they need to survive for a few weeks) and they'll lose interest and move on. Are they little black dots? For those, put some dish soap and water into a spray bottle and spray the leaves every few days. Good luck!Helpful Reply

DORLIS on Aug 23, 2015Or they could be mealy bugs, look like a small cotton spot right where the leaf joins the stem. If so, get a syringe at the pharmacy (they will laugh at you when you tell them why you want them). Fill with an equal parts mixture of alcohol, dish soap and water. Pierce them with the needle and then spritz some on the stem/leaf where you found them. Works great on cactus with lots of spines for them to hide near.Helpful Reply

DORLIS on Aug 23, 2015Or they could be scale. The young ones move but the adults stay put. They are small brown spots that come off when you scrape them off with your finger nail. Same treatment applies to them. They love almost any plant.Helpful Reply
