Gorgeous DIY'd Versailles Pattern Tile

Oh the projects we get ourselves into for our sisters! Anyone else have this problem :-)? Before my sister broke ground on her house she asked if I could 'help', it would save her so much $$$ if I put down her tile for her. I knew it would save her a lot of money, that's why I had DIY'd my tile. Labor for tile is expensive, and for good reason, it's hard work but doable work if you're willing. Little did I know, my sister had fun tile patterns in mind (herringbone, Versailles and faux wood tile). I was secretly excited to practice the Versailles pattern, I'd really love to have it in my house.
The Versailles travertine tile pattern has 4 different sized tiles puzzled together. Luckily it came in kits of approx 10 sq ft, 4 sizes already cut and edges chiseled. Then we laid out the pattern for the room and made guides to follow.

We cut edge pieces, around the toilet, vents and water pipes. See blog post for a super easy way to chisel the edge on a cut tile.
Then we troweled thinset on, set and leveled tiles.
Once the thinset was cured, we grouted and grouted and wiped and wiped. Last was to seal the tile and grout. I think it turned out gorgeous, and I wish it was at my house!!!
