Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on May 16, 2014There are many methods to fix a damaged latch area. It can be as simple as using a autobody filler to routing out the damaged area and install a new plug of wood. Ideally that is the best method, but it does take a bit of craftsmanship to get it right. Is it the bolt area that is damaged or is it the opening where the knob goes in? They do make metal U shaped wraps that can be place around the door that will strengthen the door and knob all at one time. Also another way to correct a door is to install a new larger door knob assembly that requires more cutting out of the door. But in any case if the door is split or damaged where the barrel bolt comes out the side, you only have the choice of the photo or cut in a new piece of wood and fit it in.Helpful Reply
