A Re-purposed Furniture Piece Window Box

I paid $12 for this window box. In its former life, it was a shelf from a desk or chest of drawers. It's big and heavy. When hanging it under a window wasn't an option (we have steel siding, and husband said "no"), I bought a section of white picket fence for $11. Now I have a great new garden vignette backdrop, and a planter.
I just planted the window box today. Refer to my blog for a planting list.
This is the before photo.
Of course I painted and distressed it.
I found a wonderfully chippy picket fence that was affordable.
Here is the whole fence outdoor vignette! More details on my blog.
Update: My window box wood started to crack so I had to use screws to reinforce it!
Enjoyed the project?
