What is the best way to hang an 18lbs object from the ceiling?

Jeanette S on May 19, 2014I think you might want to get the advice and permission of the maintenance office before you put up anything. 18 lbs. will require more than a simple install and can create a rehab when you leave...and some of these textured ceilings can get costly to repair! Have you thought about looking for a sturdy bracket solution with an arm that can attach to the wall (since walls have studs for security and are cheaper to repair). Think flagpole style. A metal bracket with a length of water pipe can be sprayed with any number of decorative metal spray paints by Rustoleum...copper to pewter.Helpful Reply

Sarah Robinson on May 19, 2014I definitely agree with Jeanette. 18-lbs can become even more when gravity is pushing it downward. This could cause major ceiling damage & could possibly fall, killing someone.Helpful Reply

Debbie on Oct 18, 2015It's a beautiful orb. I really think this should be supported by something attached to wood above the ceiling (joist). I don't think most ceilings would support this weight unless they are concrete or thick wood. Get expert advice. :)Helpful Reply
