Carpet buckling, help !

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on May 24, 2014Your best bet is to hire a pro to do this for you. Your carpet stretches for many reasons. Lots of activity, extra deep padding, and the simple fact that the fibers in the carpet backing is stretching out allowing the carpet to lump up. Done incorrectly the carpet can easily tear as the fibers that have stretched will continue to do until the carpet is worn out and needs to be replaced. Call the carpet place if you remember where you purchased it and ask them for advice on who to call. Its really not that expensive to fix, but you do need to move as much heavy stuff as possible before they come to do the job.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on May 25, 2014If your carpet is 8 years old, it is time for it to be restretched or replaced. That is why we put down the laminate. Ours has been down for almost 10 years and it looks as good as it did the day we put it down...big dog with sharp claws and muddy feet and all! We do not have to worry about it like we do our real wood hardwood! And you can put it down yourself...short learning curve...and the cost has come way down from when we bought ours!Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on May 25, 2014I love to vacuum and with 2 dogs and 3 cats that go in and out I find it hides the hair a whole lot better. Carpet can last you many years if vacuumed and maintained. so $100 investment in stretching it to last another 5-10 years or more is certainly not that unreasonable. And then having it professionally cleaned will help it last even longer. Stretching the carpet is not that much money in terms of replacing the floor. call around and ask how much it costs to stretch. Many times there are carpet guys who advertise onn Craiglist for side work. Just check out what company they work for. And Woodbridge is right on about hiring a pro. And I know that moving heavy furniture around and sliding it on the carpet can cause this stretching. Sometimes in very large rooms the carpet naturally will stretch. good luckHelpful Reply
