Z on May 26, 2014You might be able to go over the current stain with a gel stain after lightly sanding it. If you can't find a color match, then I'd check Minwax water based stains. They have colors you won't find in oil based stains.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on May 26, 2014You need to seal the pine using a stain sealer then re-stain using the correct color needed to match the cabinets. This is a common dilemma that occurs often. Different types of wood take stain in various amounts. You can take several different types of wood stain them with the same stain and get completely different colors. But if you seal the wood as part of the prep, you will not only find that the color will be much closer to the color you picked, but the color will be more even throughout the entire length of the wood. This is particularly true with soft woods such as pine.Helpful Reply
