What to do in the garden during summer months.
June


It's time for :


- mowing lawns once a week


- cutting back axcessive growth


- pruning spring flowering shrubs


- watering hanging baskets and container regularly


- feeding container plants
July


It's time for :


- weeding out the beds


- protecting plants from overheating (you can reduce sunlight by leaving pot plants in shade or using a garden umbrella)


- mulching bed borders (to prevent weeds from spreading and to save water)


- looking out for signs of wilting and removing dead leaves and stems


- planting autumn flowering bulbs
August


It's time for :


- sowing annuals directly into the soil


- trimming : hedges, roses, lavender, wisteria, perennials


- deadheading regularly


- taking cuttings


- repotting plants
