Unbelievable Family Room Update!

It's hard to believe this is even the same room. We moved in and this semi-sunken family room was dark and dreary. Every wall paneled in 1960s paneling - the home was built in 1947 but this "Rumpus Room" was added in the 60s and eventually enclosed. The ceiling felt so low and dark. The tile floor was swimming pool tile - no joke! None of the windows even opened in there - the amber colored glass ones were fixed and the sliding door was broken. It was hot and uninviting. Even the cabinets, which are pretty functional, added to the darkness.
So what did I do? I painted everything! The walls were painted a soft, ocean blue color. The ceiling was a HUGE endeavor - I spent about 20+ hours painting all the beams white and the ceiling panels, as it was not smooth. But, boy, it made a HUGE difference.

Beautifully done! Any plans for changing the fireplace? It just seems kind of ... I don't know ...everything else is bright and new looking but it isn't....I can't put my finger on what specifically bothers me about it...but, it's your room so don't listen to my rambles. Your room is truly beautiful!
