What is the best soil medium least expensive for container vegetables?

Douglas Hunt on Jun 03, 2014The best mix is probably one you make yourself. See this recipe from Fine Gardening: http://www.finegardening.com/soil-containers-should-be-good-mix If you don't want to go that route, I would go to a good local garden center to purchase one. Mine carries a mix that is packaged for them and is very good.Helpful Reply

Kathy Young on Jun 03, 2014I'd use compost. Use any cheap brand at Lowe's or Home Depot. I've used them for years..it works great!Helpful Reply

Leslie Long on Jun 04, 2014If you don't want to make it yourself, you can always buy Lambert Potting mix. It is organic so safe for edibles. I use it all the type in my container gardens. It does not contain fertilizer so you can add either compost or manure to it when you plant.
