Dead blooms

when cutting the old blooms off, where do you cut? Right under the dead bloom or some say right under the first set of foilage under the bloom. Thanks

It really depends on the plant. Some can just be pinched back right under the flower, but for others it makes more sense to cut back to the first set of leaves. Here's a good article from Texas A&M that lays it all out: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/galveston/weekly_q&a/f&b_21.htm

thanks so much Douglas. I just started growing roses about 3 years ago. I'm always second guessing myself. Need to get a book on roses and read it. They're are so many kinds. Thanks again
