    i thought that at first they were columbine but when I look them up they don't have those tentacles and honeysuckle do - prob is we bought both so we have no clue......

    I would have to agree - Columbine. I just googled Columbine Flower and there are so many but there was a pink one which had the tentacles that yours had amongst the photos.

    Columbine... I have several with "tentacles." There is a variety of wild ones here that have tentacles too... red and yellow.

      @Mary Brown I have some that are pink & white, blue & white, all blue and all yellow. I'd love to see your pictures. The red & yellow ones are the wild variety that grow in the forests along the northern California coast. Below are several pictures of what we call columbine.

    Definitely Columbine - it appears to be one that is native to the Canadian Shield, but likely native in many parts of the US as well. Very hardy, but doesn't like being handled very much., If you have children, ask them not to touch it or (shudder) pick it, as improper handling or tugging at it, will kill the plant. Where there used to be millions of them, now they are teetering on the edge of the Endangered Species, due to both the handling mentioned and spraying of their well forested habitat. However, if you purchased it at a Nursery, it may be a hybrid - in which case, all this yadda yadda that I've offered re the native plant doesn't apply at all.. lol

    thanks so much I was confused if it was columbine or honeysuckle because my boyfriend bought both and I can't find the baggies which I usually save to know what we planted where grrrrr

    Columbine!! Love them! I bought them for my Dad for fathers day when I was 10 or 11. I have been in love with them ever since.
