We Are Now Swingers (easy Tips for Hanging a Porch Swing)

Two Christmases ago, my sister and brother-in-law gave us a porch swing. I'm ashamed to admit that we just recently got to hanging it! However, now that it is up, our whole family enjoys it. And the process of hanging it was not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be ...
Here's the swing installed. We picked up a porch swing chain set from Lowe's that gave us all the necessary parts to install it, including the hooks that went into the ceiling joist.
To begin, we measured where the hooks in the ceiling needed to go. Note: One 2x6 joist will probably not be strong enough to hold the weight of a porch swing loaded with people. Ours is a 2x10.
If you need to hang a swing that has a rail or wall behind it, the pros recommend leaving at least 2.5 feet of clearance (3 is even better). They also recommend measuring the chains to end at about 17 inches off the floor, then adjusting up from there. Check out the full blog post for more pro tips on porch swing hangin'.
