Getting rid of Chimney Sweeps

I am a lover of birds & admire them in the yard but now I have Chimney Sweeps in my fireplace. Apparently the cover on the top has become pried back & they are making a "mess" on the inside with sifting debris & other matter running. Even with the damper closed one has gotten in ( thanks to my cat it was caught quickly). Do I call a chimney sweep guy for this??

If you're not afraid of heights and can reach, you can easily reattach or replace the chimney cap to keep them out. A handyman can also do it, for probably less cost than a chimney sweep. That being said, if you think the birds made a mess inside and if you're planning to use your fireplace anytime soon, it would be prudent to have the inside swept.
