Woven wool carpet in pink and cream in need of cleaning.
I have a woven wool carpet in pink and cream and is in desperate need of a clean. I have too many animals. Enough said. Could I wash it in cold water and pure soap? Will it shrink?

if it is garbage anyway you might as well try it but I would use woolite or zero the soap made for washing wool, How large is it?

When I was a kid we used to wash our wool skirts and they never shrunk. I assume this is a rug...? If so, I would lay it across the banister of my deck (or over the back of my lawn chairs if I did not have a deck) and let it rain on it! Lots of water and fresh air will get it clean...I would not use soap because that attracts future soiling! Wool is one of the natural fibers (Wool, cotton, Linen & silk).
