What can you make with a piece of plywood, some jute upholstery webbing and some tin Jello molds you picked up at the thrift store? A flag, of course! The pictures will show you the steps to make this simple flag inspired project that takes way less than 30 minutes. I'm all about quick and easy in the summertime!
Old Glory with a rustic charm.
Supplies needed: 21" tall x 34" wide piece of thin plywood, 4.5 yards of 3 1/2" wide jute upholstery webbing, 6 tin star shaped Jello molds, Blue craft paint - Uniform Blue by Americana is a nice patriotic shade of blue, Spray adhesive, Glue gun
Depending how many stars you want to put on will tell you how large to make the blue background on the top left.
I thinned the craft paint by adding a slash of water. And then painted it on.
After a few minutes I drug a wet paper towel across it to take off some of the paint. I was going for a weathered wood look.
Cut out your upholstery webbing. You will need 3 lengths of 34" and 3 lengths of 19".
Using spray adhesive, adhere them to the board, butting the webbing right up against each other.
Keep going with all six strips.
Hot glue your stars onto the blue background.
Done! The whole project took me about 30 minutes and that was because I was stopping to take photos of each step for you :)
Enjoyed the project?
