My family and I have just completed flipping a house, and I wanted to share one of the projects we completed which I am so proud of. (We did this for both the Master and the Guest Bath....this is the Guest Bath) I could not stand that it was basically a "slab-o-mirror" with those unsightly plastic clips. I wanted something better but was running out of budget. We had lots of scrap 1x's and scraps of moulding, so I went to work designing and cutting. I am very proud of the results. We spent less than $100 on this bathroom makeover by using scrap wood.
Pottery Barn Inspired Guest Bathroom Mirror.
Completed bathroom. Paint color is BM Elvira White.
Less than $20 was spent creating this Board 'n Batten wall using a 1x4 and lattice strips.
For the mirror, we used a 1x6 to mount the light on...then framed the mirror area with inexpensive moulding.
I added a 1x3 at the bottom to allow for a small shelf support using a 1x2.
A piece of quarter-round was added to give support to the shelf.
Caulk and a good sanding and several coats of white paint later - I ended up with this beautiful custom mirror. By the way, I had the original mirror cut by a glass shop for $20. I used Mirror Adhesive Mastic to adhere it to the wall instead of those unsightly plastic clips.
