Pool Pump Chlorinater

My new Chlorinater is not getting water or at least the tablets are not disolving

  • I had that same issue with mine. I took a large pot of boiling water and poured it into the container after removing the tabs and it cleared it up. The tiny holes that allow bleed water into the device can become plugged up with solids thus preventing the water to flow into and out of the device. I would also change a few things on this. While its good that the device is on the discharge side of the system., The chlorinator should be installed into a trap to prevent super chlorinated water from flowing back into the filter system and into the pump area.

I understand your first part of your reply, the second part not sure what you mean.
  • The Chlorine becomes super concentrated when the filter is turned off. When the pipes from the chlorinator are level in relation to the surrounding pipes that connect to it the chemical will migrate back to the pump and direction valve. This chemical is very corrosive and will damage seals, the impeller in the pump and so on. If the pipes were installed so there is a in line type of trap between the chlorine dispenser and the pipes that come from the pump and regulator valve the concentrated chemicals will remain in the dispenser and not migrate out and around that connection point.

I always have to "vent" or "bleed-off" the air in my chlorinator when I change the tablets or back-flush my sand filter. To do this I simply loosen the top cap (that I place the tablets in) so that it is barely on, then wait for water to begin venting out, then tighten it down.

try venting the air of the chlorinator by loosening the lid/cap while the pool pump is running. Allow sometime for it to fill out and begin trickling out, then tighten the cap. On mine the air will pressurize the container keeping water from entering the "tube".
