Therese C on Jun 21, 2014Remove the paper, cut a piece of 1/4" plywood to fit the top. Sand, stain, and seal. If it were me and I were keeping it for my home, I would add an applique' to the top or stencil on something cool, and seal it well with varnish. (does anyone say varnish anymore?). It can then be used for virtually anything from a coffee table (add a piece of glass to the top), bedside table, or very interesting shoe keep inside the front hall or in a foyer.Helpful Reply

Loral on Jun 22, 2014If you are trying to preserve the integrity of the piece, use some wood filler (color match the wood) on the cracks. They don't seem to be very big. I can't see them from the picture. Use a glue remover for the tape, and stain the wood how you want. Nice gift!Helpful Reply
