New Deck system that serves as Ceiling for patio below?

I have a beautiful, very sturdy deck with a concrete patio below. I want to replace the splintering deck boards on top with a decking system that will also serve as a ceiling for the patio below it.

There are several things you can do to improve this look. If the deck boards need to be changed, the new boards can be made of man made materials. These "plastic" boards come with many brand names and they all look pretty nice when new. Only issue is that later on some become easily stained due to poor maintenance and fall leaf removal. Wood always tends to be a bit of work, but also is easier on foot. I suggest that you replace the damaged boards, power wash the deck and stain. Then using a product that is designed for under deck use such as this http://www.underdeck.com/underdeck/ you will have a great place to hang out during rain storms without getting dripped on. There are many products such as this. Home Depot and Lowe's also carries these type of products, but you get what you pay for in the end.
