Garden Tour 2014

Welcome to my first Garden Tour, I hope you enjoy it. Let me start off by saying if there is a plant growing in the yard, I throw down some mulch and call it a garden. Also, in person, the fence itself looks pretty good. In pictures, it is painfully obvious that the side with the beach ball needs to be power washed.
The fence runs the length of the backyard which is like having that long wall in a room that you don’t know what to do with- a.k.a our living room. This is what I see when I am in the kitchen washing dishes. I had a little Barbara Streisand moment and planned this section first since I would be looking out on it often. In an Oprah interview, Barbara said she coordinates her flowers with her interior decor as if they are extensions of her rooms. I didn’t go that far, I just wanted something pretty to look at.
I picked up this rusty stool at a garage sale for $1. They probably should have paid me the dollar to take it off their hands, but I can not resist a piece of rusty junk goodness. I love the contrast of mercury glass gazing balls with the rusty stool.
I found this little bunny under an overgrown shrub left by the previous owners. I love him even without his ears. The peony he sits under originally came from my Grandfather’s garden.
The vanity chair was another garage sale find. I spray painted it yellow and planted Dead Nettle around the base.
Before you leave, have a look at my current project fail. I had grand ideas for this trophy that my son got off the curb. I was going to spray paint it an amazing color and a flowering, climbing vine was going to grow up around it. Even though I have an idea, I would love to hear your suggestions/thoughts.

P.S. I don't think your trophy is a fail! Give it time for the vine to grow!

Great idea. If this is a sunny spot, I would try growing a Climatis Vine. One that is more mannerly and won't completely take over the trophy
