Aucuba-a Shade Loving and Easy to Propagate Evergreen
by

Aucubas are one of the easiest shade loving evergreens to grow here in zone 7. They are so easy to propagate, grow in any soil, and unappealing to deer. What more could you ask for?
I have been growing Aucuba for 10 years and have been using my wire hanger method to propagate. It is so easy to cut, push in, cover with dirt, and forget. I love gardening but I have no room to do everything so I find ways to 'cheat'.

Wire hanger-free and fairly easy to cut.
This 5+ foot Aucuba has been here since July 2008 and was about 12" tall and one branch. there is actually a birdhouse behind there
I am waiting for rain so I can transplant several I 'pinned' last fall and I forgot about them until now

Douglas Hunt on Jun 26, 2014I love all the variations of foliage on the aucubas. I wish they did better in my part of Florida.
