Romancing the Garden

Just as I love romantic interiors, I love romance in the garden...and I plant flowers and trees to evoke that mood....below, the French antique rose Fantin Latour which has been in my garden for a long time!
Renowned for it's sweet perfume and full cabbage like form...sweet!
Renowned for it's sweet perfume and full cabbage like form...sweet!
Although the exterior of our home is not what I would have chosen if I built it, I try to soften and enhance what I have....the colour palette of white, soft pink and lavender suit our shade woodland garden...
The Kolkwitzia tree "Pink Cloud " near our front porch...
" Pink Cloud"
Roses just beginning to bloom....
More roses in the south border....and oak leaf hydrangeas...
Flagstone paths lead to different "rooms " in the garden....
The lower terrace.....
Because of our location and dappled shade, moss grows every where, which I welcome here....
...and here on a stone bridge crossing the stream....
Stone stairs to the lower terrace, in full bloom....
Cinderella "Fairy" rose.....
Peony "Sarah Bernhardt " from my garden....
.....and on my kitchen island....
.....and conditioning them in my laundry room....
....adding romantic touches here and there from the garden....

Your yard is so beautiful. What a wonderful touch. I would like to know the name of the first flower I saw? It is all so stunning, just absolutely beautiful.

Hard to see a serious gardener with English Ivy in the yard. Beautiful yard nonetheless.
