Kitchen Counter Makeover
by

(IC: homeowner)
I had ugly white counter tops and wanted new ones, but the price of new ones were way more than I could afford right now, so I made myself new counter tops for about $50
This is what my counter tops looked like when I started. (excuse the broken covers, have new ones, just not on yet lol)
Then I used equal parts elmers glue all and water, brown contractors paper torn in pieces and wadded up. Unwrinkle paper, dip into glue solution and flatten to top of counter.
After it dried overnight, this is what it looks like
I bought a pint of Wood Stain and had it tinted to Hunter Green
I bought a Martha Stewart sponge for the tint
using a dobbing technique I took the green and dobbed onto paper covered counter top
coated with several coats of polyurethane. I used floor grade because the wear and tear is better.
Finished product close up
Done....... pictures are quite deceiving because it actually looks like marble. Camera picked up each tiny bit of light.
Enjoyed the project?
