Chunky Rustic Ampersand

I wanted to add an ampersand '&' to my command center wall. I thought it would be a fun look to use some barn wood from Grandpa's old hay barn.
First, I enlarged an ampersand symbol, this font is Pacifico. An already enlarged pattern is available at http://www.hertoolbelt.com/rustic-ampersand-symbol/
I traced the pattern onto a scrap piece of barn wood, then used a band saw to cut it out. A scroll saw or jig saw will also work great to cut out the wood. Since I used a band saw, I had to make cuts through the '&' to get into the inner circles. Using a scroll or jig saw you can get away without making those cuts.
The ampersand looked great with raw wood edges, but I thought it might be fun to add a pop of color to the sides. I painted the sides a coral-ish color, once dried, used sandpaper to distress the paint.

White Oak Studio Designs on Jul 03, 2014This is very timely, thank you. I am hoping that my husband will make me large house numbers for my entry fence project.
