  • Before 1- carpet ruined, door has hole in it, walls- well look at next photo.
  • Before 2-you can see the walls are uneven where he decided he wanted to get rid of the wallboard look and paint, but in his haste he failed to sand the seams smooth and paint is chippped. Note: later he went on to do this sort of work and does it wonderfully now.

Guest room remodel

Here is a bedroom I remodeled after my son moved out- changed into a guest room. We had to redo the drywall, tear up the carpet and replace part of the floor (window was left cracked and ...»
rain came in). I have another view I will ... ยป post of the other side of the room- replaced the closet door too. My budget was $300...I came in well under that. The Parquet flooring is actually stick down tile from Big Lots- that was my biggest cost at $60. The bed was from my oldest son- bed frame $20 at Salvation army, headboard $5 at yard sale, down comforter $20 with discounts, the curtain (shower curtain which I used seam tape to make a rod pocket), table cloth, dust ruffle and pillow shams- Bag sale $5. Lamp $8 at yard sale and picked shade out of someone's trash! Rug was $15 at yard sale. Chair $25 on local list. Computer desk was $30 at yard sale. Various decorations were $1-$3 each at yard sales. Door was $25 at a home depot going out of business sale. Armoire is not in the photo, but I picked that up for free. Oh and the wall paper- box of it for $5 (which was my inspiration for this room) ...but had to buy one more roll online for $40! Only things I reused in the room was an antique chair and the table.

  • painted foam/puzzle play mat after 1

I wasn't able to find a cushion-y kitchen mat that I liked, so I made one from a kid's puzzle playmat. :)

I finished painting my kitchen countertops this weekend.

Total project was about $60.00. ($17.00 for the Primer, $20.00 for the Countertop Coating and $20.00 for the Polycrylic). I already owned the paint, but that was about $15.00 worth. I know they sell kits for this kindof thing (made by Gianni or Rustoleum), but I wanted to go with a different paint scheme. I got the original idea from a blog (creative Kristi's) Total process took about 3 days
