  • The number one consideration when storing paint is to make sure the can is completely sealed to keep air out so the paint does not dry up.
  • Do not use a screwdriver to open the can if you expect to have leftover paint. A screwdriver can also distort the lid, preventing a good closure.

How to Store Paint

If you have leftover paint after a project, don't throw it out. Save it in case you need it in the future for touch-ups. It is important to store it properly so it will be useable down ...»

I have used these steps for many many years. ...»

1.) When you first open a new can of paint clean the paint off of the underside of the lid with the brush you will be using and scrape it into the can. This helps keep your lid and rim clean for re-sealing.

2.) Each to you pour paint into your roller pan use you brush again to keep the rim and outside of the can clean.

3.) While painting and again when you have finished clean the rim with your brush and scrape the paint from the brush back into the can again.

4.) Place the lid on the can and cover with a rag. Seal with the rubber mallet. Remove the rag and visually check the seal. If you do not have a rubber mallet, put the rag on top of the can, hold onto someone's shoulder and walk around the rim of the can.

This table has been sanded and I used the stain to create the design on the top like using paint to fade and add dark areas! I think it came out pretty awesome lol.

DIY Mirrored ceiling medallion

We wanted a mirrored ceiling medallion and couldn't find one under $500 so we made our own for about $30 out of candle plates from Hobby Lobby. You can read about the room makeover here. http://bella-tucker.com/2011/06/tween-room-m...
