A Perfect Pile of 'junk' ?

Can there be a perfect pile of 'junk' for a project? I think so. I had already been scouring local craigslist ads and our local Re-Store for just this type of junk. I did find a great pile of reclaimed wood at the Re-Store- but it was already sold. So... I kept looking... and bumped into a pile of treasure.
I wanted old weathered boards to replace a damaged table top on our outdoor dining table. I was looking for something that made it feel like it was years old- dings and wear didn't bother me- neither did the old paint in areas. They were part of a perfect patina in my book.
Since these were found boards- and this table is 10' long- we didn't have enough boards that were the same width or length to create a traditional table top.
We went with a random width and length top- and love how it turned out.
