Bookshelf Revamp

We recently put in new beige carpeting in the upstairs and painted the walls a very neutral color in order to get the house ready for sale. That, mixed with my very beige colored bookshelf created a very blah workroom. I decided to spice up the bookshelf with a fresh coat of paint.
This little bookcase is made out of cheap fiberboard and really isn’t much to talk about. But over the years it has nicely held my vintage craft magazine collection, never complaining when I add just one more magazine to it’s already bulging collection. I estimate that it is holding at least 300 lbs. of magazines right now. And not a single complaint!
I began by painting the entire shelf with a pretty periwinkle blue.
I then put in my design using ShapeTape in chevron. This tape can be found at your local HomeDepot or Lowes in the painting section.
I painted over the tape with white paint and then removed it to reveal the design.
This little shelf has some character now! Something it totally deserves after all the work it has done for me!

We usually keep neutral colors on our walls, too.
Itis easy to spruce up the room with various items of different colors like you did.
You did a great job. Thank you for sharing.

Perhaps I don't understand but you placed the tape, painted over it and you said you removed it. However I still see the tape. What am I missing? Thanks
