Pallet Wood Bench

We have had a blast making different things out of pallet wood! Our latest adventure was to put together a bench using pallet wood!
To begin with, we took one pallet and cut it in half with a "Sawzall". One half was used for the seat and the other half was used for the back! We made the legs with some old bunk bed rails. We angled the bench slightly so that when you are sitting in it, you lean back a touch for comfort!
The pallet had some gaps in between the boards so we added a few additional ones from other pallets we had torn apart. I then sanded the boards real well that made up the seat. We don't want splinters in our "bottoms"!! I followed with Minwax Wood Conditioner because the pallet wood is SO porous! It will soak up unmeasurable amounts of stain if not treated first with the conditioner.
I followed the conditioner with Minwax Stain and then Spar Urethane to make it water proof. We tried it out over the Fourth of July while we made Homemade Ice cream and it worked out great providing extra seating! Our only cost was for the screws, Minwax conditioner, stain, and Urethane!!!
