Heathered Nest Guest Room Remodel

Welcome to the new and improved Guest Room here at the Heathered Nest. We hope you will find it comfortable! It sure took a lot of blood, sweat, and definitely tears to get it to this point.
BEFORE!!! A linoleum and wood paneling jungle!!
DURING! Fighting off the mice and mold. But in the end, it was well worth the effort.

We found some great salvaged wood/reclaimed wood, and used it as a DIY ceiling treatment...
There it is, going in. We added a well window, which ABSOLUTELY transformed the space by adding some MUCH needed natural light...
AFTER: A Four poster Ethan Allen bed from craigslist, pillows, curtains and lampshades all made at home. Barn board ceiling w/ a petite gold chandelier. Flow blue heirloom plates hung on the wall. Refinished cane and toile settee, burlap pillows and a sisal rug.

I love the ceiling, it's my favorite part.

I love the look of painted pine paneling, but that would have been the only reason I would have kept it on the walls. I like the wood on the ceiling--but how will it clean? That is always my concern with the barn wood look. Granted it can't be worse than popcorn. That would paneling would have rocked on the ceiling.
