Cat spray deterrent

I use Odoban for areas where cats have sprayed, but does anyone know of a product that repels them from an area?

Cats don't like vinegar. Try spraying the area with Vinegar. Let me know how that works!

Jackson Galaxy of the "My Cat From Hell" show had a client who had trouble with male cats coming around and upsetting their cats which made havoc in their household. He set up motion activated water sprinklers! Scared the stray cats away for good and settled down the household. My sister used a spray bottle of water to train her cat not to run out the door. Now she will sit and wait inside. You can get an idea of price on line and a video on how they work!

Thanks, Jeanette S, but my cats are and always have been indoor only. I'm hoping someone knows of some chemical, somewhere in the world(!) that will repel cats from an area.

Whatever you do don't use bleach. It makes them want to remark their territory with their urine and will make the problem worse. Some disinfectants are toxic to cats so if you clean paths etc after they have peed or poohed on them, be careful of stuff such as Jeyes Fluid. I think you want to repel them not kill them! I would suggest spraying with white vinegar, anything citrus scented - citrus oils would last longer I should think or as someone else suggested - startle them with a well aimed spray of water or a sprinkler system that goes off when it detects movement. Just make sure your any visitors are aware of the sprinkler system and don't cop a drenching!! If all else fails - do you have a dog?? Sometimes the smell or sight of a dog in the yard will keep the kitties out.

Another thought - have you tried mothballs - the naptholene (if that is how you spell it) type. A few of them or those moth repellents in the plastic hanging cages - hung at various spots around the yard might repel them - they smell awful. Just as long as kids and animals cannot get into them and they are not left on the ground to leach into the soil. Good luck!
