Leah Johnson on Jul 12, 2014definitely the wrong color.. I would stain it with a dark walnut if it was mine to go along with other pieces of my furniture. but otherwise I thin maybe a shade of blue or green with a bit of antiquing...do you get what I am talking about???Helpful Reply

Sherry M. on Jul 12, 2014they make so many different colored stains now, are you leaving the walls yellow? If so I'd go with a darker stain and maybe a pop of color on the insides of those shelves.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Jul 13, 2014It would be very easy to get some of that rub on gel varnish with a tint if you can find it. Stain this very dark and then find a pretty wallpaper that is your style to put on the back of the shelves. If you prefer, a flat black paint will completely transform this and make it pop!Helpful Reply
