Adrianne C on Jul 13, 2014Need to discover where it's coming from. If it's very dry outside, then obviously that would be the cause. Unless there is a water ban of some sort, can you hose the area around the house down? Inside the house, vacuuming and mopping. When you're dusting, you are just moving the dust around instead of getting rid of it.Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Jul 13, 2014A better filter system for your heat pump/ac unit will help tremendously. Changing your filters once a month on your unit will help tremendously too and do not buy the expensive filters -it is not worth the extra expensive. They run about $100 and are worth the money. Some companies will try and get you to buy UV light filters which are great but the bulbs are very expensive to replace. Leaving windows open or having a system leak can cause a lot of dust too. Do you have stairs? if so, do you have black dust that collects along the side of the stairs? If so that is a sign of a duct work leak. (I have a good friend in the HVAC business and so I have picked his brain many times.) HOpe some of this helps you figure it out.Helpful Reply

Barbara on Jul 13, 2014Beneath my house is somewhat damp, so we did not think it would be. My attic has blown insulation in it so we thought it might be the reason but no proof. Filter changed once a month.Helpful Reply

Sylvia Ruiz on Jul 13, 2014I had the same problem in my very dry and hot climate home. Took the following steps and it has been greatly relieved. -- Had the a/c ducts and furnace professionally cleaned; bought two portable air purifiers which I can move to different rooms as needed; use micro-fiber materials for dust cloths and room fan cleaners; "swifter" type dust mop and damp mop at least once/week.and change the filters frequently at least every 6- 8 weeks. Last, have door mats outside every entrance door. It was a little investment of time and money but we are all breathing much better now.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Jul 14, 2014Several things! (1) Make sure your filter is clean (2) have your system professionally checked to make sure all the connections are there and there are no open spaces in your ducts, ie., holes or disconnected ducts (3) get your ducts cleaned. It is time for a duct cleaning around here! Also, when you do work in the house you need to make sure you seal off openings with plastic and tape to keep from getting gunk in your ducts!Helpful Reply
