Unique Chalk Board Made From Antique Crib Piece

This was done for a client. She gave me this piece and wanted me to come with some way to repurpose it. It was a rusted, metal baby bed piece. After looking at it for several days and my mind drawing blanks the light finally went on, especially after I kept looking at the big rectangle thinking that something unusual needed to go there. Finally an aha moment and the idea of making it into a chalk board came to my mind.
I painted in Annie Sloan Florence, distressed it to show some of the patina in the metal and clear waxed it. The rectangle space I sprayed with chalk board paint. Stenciling done in a black chalk paint. My client was very pleased.
