Ground bees in my composter!

I just realized that there is a yellow-jacket nest in my composter, at the bottom where it rests on the ground. I don't know if they're in the compost, or in the actual ground below the composter. A bee literally flew AT me and stung me on my shoulder, so I'm guessing they are aggressive, and they have to go before the dogs get stung. Any advise on removing them?

  • I would suggest that you get a professional in to do this for you. While you can spray the nest, you really need to get the chemical down inside of it which is difficult without the proper equipment. Be safe and have a pro do it.

Of course, you are disturbing their nest and they are just protecting it.

Do it now!!!!!! I got stung a couple of weeks ago and ended up having an allergic reaction and had to go to the ER for IV antibiotics, blood draws, prednisone, etc. Nothing to mess with................GET THEM KILLED NOW!!!

Yellow jackets can be VERY aggressive. You can buy spray, but unless you have protective gear and can run really fast, get a professional!
