Aged Mirror Makeover With Chalk Paint

I was on Facebook the other day and I came across a set of dressers for sale on a buy and sell group that I follow. They were not very pretty "as is" but I loved the curves and style of the pieces. I knew I could paint them so I decided to buy them and convinced my son to pick them up for me. (There may have been a $20 bribe in it for him and his friends too, so really it was not hard to convince them to give me a hand). The set came with 2 dressers, 2 side tables and a mirror. I really did not need the mirror, but it did come with it so I took it home with me. Now I had to decide what to do with this not so pretty "outdated" mirror.
Here is the before photo of the not so pretty mirror. (Yes that is what the not so pretty dressers looks like too. I will be painting them next week and share the before and after project with you then.)
First I made sure to tape off the mirror so I would not get any paint on the mirror.
I have seen so many paint projects on Pinterest using chalk paint lately and I really wanted to do a project myself for a while now. So this was the perfect first project for me to try my hand at Chalk Painting. I could not decide if I wanted to use Anne Sloan's Chalk Paint, make my own or use a different brand. So many people say Anne Sloan was the way to go.

So for my first project I thought OK why not, but I forgot I live in Canada and it is always harder to find items like this! Crazy I really do not know why this is the case, but it is. I did manage to find one store (yes only ONE) in Edmonton that carried Anne Sloan Chalk paint and of course, they were sold out of the white and the black. That was the 2 colors I wanted to start with!
I did a little more looking and in Spruce Grove they have a few stores that sell re-purposed furniture and they also sell a version of chalk paint called "reloved" Vintage Paint and it is made right in Edmonton too. The ladies at the store all swear by it, and with it being $10 cheaper a can of Anne Sloan's I decided to give it a try.
