Adrianne C on Jul 25, 2014Yes. Best to take either the whole thing down, or if you just want to paint the blades, just take them off.Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Jul 25, 2014you can take the blades off easy enough and spray paint them! I love to use Rustoleum's 2x spray which gives great coverage-just make sure blades are clean and dry. Now if the ceiling fan motor is ugly, take that down, blow it out with an air compressor or compressed air in a can or turn a shop vac the other way and blow the dust out (I blow dust out of my ceiling fans once a year with compressed air now). Put painters tape over the screening so you do not get motor spray painted inside and paint it. I did this on fan. hope this helps. good luckHelpful Reply

Karen wesley on Jul 25, 2014Yes but if it is balanced then you want to mark them so they can be but back in the same spot you removed them from.Helpful Reply

Adrianne C on Jul 26, 2014Isn't necessary, the blades are all the same. If the fan is mounted with a down rod, just make sure it's plumb.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Jul 26, 2014You can take a fan down, clean it and spray it any color you want. The only thing is that there is usually foam glued to the inside of the cover...this is what is behind those slits in your fan cover. Paint will fill up the venting. Cut some small pieces of paper and slip them inside to keep the foam from being painted. I don't know of a fan where all of its cover can be removed for painting.Helpful Reply

Kim Smith on Jul 27, 2014I have painted mine. It was one of the "wood" looking ones, and I thought it was too dark when I went to mauve walls and white baseboard. Painted it white and now I like it. And it is so bright now! An easy project, have someone take it down for you, or if you do it your self, have a "spotter" with you at the time. Don't want to fall!Helpful Reply

Kim Smith on Jul 28, 2014I used a brush and painted it with some latex semi-gloss that I had used on baseboards. I wanted it washable, since it was white. Those paddle fans do get dirty!Helpful Reply

Lori Jackson on Jul 29, 2014Sure it is...just remove the blades and paint away. I used spray paint, just because I had it on hand. Another quick facelift for a fan is to change out the globes on the bulbs. Often they can be found at Habitat Stores or other such places that reclaim/resell.Helpful Reply
