Eloquent Dresser

Below is what this dresser looked like when I got it. At some point it had been spray painted black. It also had words and letters scratched into the surface along with hearts painted on with nail polish. Whoever had spray painted it black didn't even bother pulling off the stickers and tape that had been stuck on there before they began painting. Let me add that this is NOT an antique. It is a french provincial style reproduction.
As you can see, it wasn't so desirable before. -- I had to scrape off all of the old stickers and tape that were hiding under that terrible spray paint. I also sanded out the scratches.
Once I had everything cleaned up I was able to start on the fun stuff- painting! I used The Hayloft's Milk Paint. I really do love everything about Milk Paint but my favorite is how it chips and flakes on it's own!
As I said before, I used The Hayloft's Milk Paint. I mixed the colors Blue Grass, Spring Sprout and Pearl necklace to get this perfectly soft and warm turquoise color. I used Grandma's Quilt for the flowers and a mix of Spring Sprout and Pearl Necklace for the leaves. This piece has so much character! The milk paint chipped and crackled exposing all of the layers of paint giving it an authentic aged look.
These details are so pretty.
Even though it has the chippy, aged look - she is smooth as butter!
I kept the original hardware but I updated them with and oil rubbed bronze paint. (Do you see all of that beautiful crackle?!)
SO much better than the black spray paint!
This might just be one of my favorite pieces that I've redone!
