April's Deck - A Project We Recently Completed for My Daughter
by
Wood's Home Maintenance Service
(IC: professional)
Removing an old deck that was too small and rundown for the growing family
next up - the footings, posts and band
Installing the last floor joist
Proper flashing protects the house from moisture
installing the decking boards
The decking is almost complete
now for the steps and rails
Using pocket hole joinery on all the rail ends makes them neat looking and very strong
All the pickets are pre-drilled and attached on the inside of the rails with decking screws. Not only does this design look great it is extremely sturdy.
Ready for the fun and the grilling to begin!
They love their built in grill area!
Enjoyed the project?

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
What’s the list of material used? For example, what length were the cross beams and the deck planks? It looks like the posts were 8x8 and 4x4, what length and how deep did they plant them into ground, only dirt and gravel, no cement. Lastly, any special tools that make it easier? Thanks
