I have a large pine table that I want to repurpose as a kitchen island

Kim McEntire on Jul 28, 2014cut the table in half (or to desired size). connect the open (cut) end with a 1x 2 on the underside or a slat of the original table. remove and reposition legs from unused end. use remainder of table for shelves, railing ect....Helpful Reply

Olga C on Jul 29, 2014I like Kim's idea but would add baskets to hold storage on the shelf and leave the leaf on the side to screw hooks on to hold pots, utensils, towels or oven mitts! Love your tableHelpful Reply

Jeanette S on Jul 29, 2014A suggestion if you wish to have it closed in on 3 sides...use beadboard! There is a molding made for corners. Then slats should be easy to install by attaching a frame with screws (counter sink screws and they will be behind the beadboard. This will probably be a rather simple task.Helpful Reply
