Outdoor construction by Life Outside Pty Ltd for Sekisui House Display Village, Sydney Australia

This was a new concept display village for Sekisui House (SH), a new home builder in the Australian market place but one of the worlds largest builders. It was the first village done by SH in the new Aurora style range, a style that is 100% Japanese in origin, adapted to the Australian environment of course.
This project was to completed in 2 months but was delayed by 4 weeks with over 46 days of rain during construction!!
Life Outside Pty Ltd was the landscape contractor for the project, taking care of fencing, turf, gardens, decks, pergolas, screens & paving.
Do's & Don'ts for the project.....
Do - plan well, fail to plan & you plan to fail. Projects like these need a huge amount of planning and co-ordination. Get a PROFESSIONAL team behind you.
Don'ts - Huge lessons were learned about working through extreme periods of rain. We pushed on through the rain as hard as we could to try and help SH meet deadlines, but in hindsight, it's sometimes worth just leaving the project in such extreme weather events until the site can dry out. Working through the rain made things twice as hard as they had to be and many tasks were performed 2-3 times due to the clean-up required.
We love the quality of finish that was achieved under such difficult circumstances. The great use of timber and bamboo created a real feeling of warmth and quality. The village itself is a breath of fresh air taking full advantage of the light, innovative materials and inspirational viewpoints. A huge credit to Sekisui House and their revolutionary clean, sustainable building techniques.
