Old Baby Buggy

Any body have some creative ideas for this? I got it at an auction, and I have an idea, but I know there are a lot of creative people out there!!! What do you think?
The bottom of buggy is first, then the actual metal carrier.
The metal carrier. Excuse my work table!! Over all it is about 25" x 17" not including the push handle pic below.
About 12" x 13" at highest spot!! Thanks in advance for looking and taking the time to comment!!!

patio cart or beverage bar...I'd paint it bronze, add slats to the top and bottom, stain to match your patio decor,,tropical maybe, add bar items and chill a bit.. or moveable Ice cooler.. custom sized non breakable glass shelves could hold glasses, ice chest sitting on the top.. In at case, I paint the frame bright chrome,, pain a cooler to look vintage-say 50's retro vibe.. add a few old metal pieces of lawn furnature, redone to match for a wonderful look..

Make it into a fountain !,

Screams out for a herb garden in it. I would leave it as it is and use it to plant up herbs or ornamentals for the garden or patio.
  • Colleen Greene Colleen Greene on Jul 30, 2014
Possibly attach wood board across and then put a nice old wicker basket on that with flowers if you're using it outside. Or if you're using it inside, put an old quilt and teddy bear in it.

saw one in a B and B, they had a cute buggy painted and in the bathroom filled with towels, and washcloths, and tucked in a little vintage doll. You could put a wood or heavy cardboard bottom in and paint and use in a laundry room too.
  • Cora Cora on Jul 30, 2014
I would put a metal bed on it and sit it on the patio or yard and put flowers in it and maybe at holidays you could put pumkins in it and etc...

I would scrub up that stainless steel and paint it an accent color. Then put it in a guest bedroom to be used as a bedspread, throw pillow holder. It would make a great piece for a dining room to be used as a "busing" cart like restaurants have.
  • It screams garden cart to me. I'd take the cradle part down to its bare bones, paint that baby up, put it back on the carriage and fill it up with seasonal plants and flowers. It's so vintage and cool!
  • Pauliegirl1 Pauliegirl1 on Jul 31, 2014
I really LOVE all of the creative and smart people out there!! I was thinking of using the handle as a towel rack, or clothes rack in a guest room, maybe a piece of round wood on the "wheel" part for a side table and then I am kinda stuck for the "metal" part??? Maybe add legs and fix it up??? to use as a cooler "bucket"??? Just kinda break it ALL down?? I am always open for any other creative minds out there!!!! Thank you to all of your suggestions....still thinking!!! LOL!!!!!!

the frame part coul be rechromed for a retro 50's look..otherwise Victorian feel paint matt black or the antiqued bronze like bathroom fixtures so popular now.. t choice of colors would relly give you more options for inside the home to go with your decor..if its shabby chicyou could even do white..

I see it temporarily lined and filled with flowers (poinsettias at Christmas). Hope it's not too big to have inside for that in winter. I would do no painting. Would keep it in original look. Restoring would be fine. Also, if inside, would be beautiful filled with old quilts.

Spray paint the entire carriage BLACK use the carriage part as planting container, plant Bright annual Flowers For spring and summer Fall use for pumpkins indian corn christmas...pine greens and pine cones with with lights...
  • Angelia Christenson Angelia Christenson on Aug 02, 2014
Sounds like half agree with me. I would either paint it black with rust resistent paint and just junk the carriage part. Then wooden pallet slats on the bottom and possibly build sides kind of like wooden crates and keep seasonal plants, decos on it. I have the perfect spot right next to my watering can fountain and cast iron three tier plant stand on my front porch corner where plants get just enough sun in the evening.....ha. Have FUN WITH IT for certain no matter what ya do. Dont make it a "chore" so much as an expression of YOU.
  • P P on Aug 02, 2014
Clean it up, have another baby and use it as a carriage....LOL
  • P P on Aug 02, 2014
Attach the push handle to the wall in your laundry room, instant shelf and hanger holder. Remove the liner from the carriage box paint it and use it as a beverage cooler for parties filled with ice and soda or beer. Make a box out of pallets and attach it to the wheels and use it as a garden cart for moving leaves or plants etc. (you could attach the handle to the box and put small garden tools on the shelf) Put potted plants in it when not in use. Make a "gocart" for your children or grand children...you'd be a big hit... Use the cart to bring groceries from car to kitchen,,,(all at once instead of several trips) Whatever you do have fun doing it..BYE FOR NOW

I love it! You lucky girl. Myself, I would clean it up, fill it with baby blankets, etc. & display my old dolls in it. Those things are so rare. Haven't seen one for years.

I immediately thought of a planter, clean it up, paint it whatever color you want, use the basket to keep spray bottles or whatever on it. My second thought is for a bathroom use (or spare bedroom cause let's face it who has room in their bathroom for something like this) but I'm thinking towels, using the rack for toiletries. I love the idea someone had to store extra blankets. Depending on your space you could also use it to put groceries in and move them back and forth easier from the car to the kitchen or store bread, fruit, dipping oils on the rack. Whatever you use it for a fresh coat of paint would be a great idea. Decide where you have the space for it and go from there.
  • Thomas Thomas on Aug 02, 2014
You could us a platform of Hard wood with short sides on the carriage frame for a serving cart indoors or on patio deck! It should have the frame cleaned and protected to keep from becoming rusted.
  • Michelle Michelle on Aug 02, 2014
for me a doll in would be creepy, but paint and create a beautiful plant with flowers and trailing plants in the garden beautiful
  • Liliana Wells Liliana Wells on Aug 02, 2014
Definitely a planter. It seems large enough that you can fill it will smaller pots and change them with the seasons or as the mood strikes you. But it does need a fresh coat of paint. I also like the idea of using it in a guest room as a repository for blankets, towels, pillows and whatnot, if you have the space. I hope you post pictures when you are done with it.

  • Marie Worley Marie Worley on Aug 02, 2014
I agree with the suggestion of a serving cart, with those wheels it would be excellent for an outdoor area.
  • Tegma Tegma on Aug 02, 2014
If you have a large living room, you could use the frame to make a coffee table of it! That is, if it's not too high! Or, as said above, it could be used on a deck or patio! 'Wish I had it!
  • Pauliegirl1 Pauliegirl1 on Aug 02, 2014
Everyone has been SUPER with all the suggestions!! I think the picture makes it look bigger than it really is...the wheel part (base) is 12"H x 24" long....the metal carriage is 23"L x 6" D x 12" across...so I DO see what every one is saying....except Susan E in CA?? I would send it to u...I paid $45. and its yours...or Angelia in GA. I have soooo many projects that this would be on the back burner,,,I REALLY REALLY appreciate EVERY ONES time and WONDERFUL suggestions....if someone really wants it, let me know!!! THANK YOU TO ALL!!!!!!!!

First thought is a planter - but if you take out the body (blue part) then added a wine barrel in it's place you could plant in that . Would look neat - - Thinking Lavender and zinnias would be pretty. Would also make a great harvesting container for the garden.

A friend made a fishing cart for her husband out of an old baby carriage. Dropped in a milk crate and an insulated cooler for the fish on ice! The crate held supplies. He screwed in PVC piping to hold fishing poles and bungee corded them to stay put. As they live near the beach, he walked his cart for his daily fishing expedition.

If this baby carriage is antique and is good condition, I wouldn't put it outside! I would refurbish it back to it's orginal purpose. I see as an antique. I would put it in my house and depending on how sturdy it is, I would use it as a laundry basket or blankets at the foot of a bed, how about a place to put your knitting, or whatever hobby you have in a place where your family gathers, it could hold toys, newspapers, magazines, puzzle books, Nook or Kindle. I have a double washtub in my bathroom for dirty clothes and a claw foot tub in my living room where I lined the bottom with 5" foam topped off with chaise lounge cushion covered with fleese blankets and pillows. It's a great place to relax with the end in a " reclining position ". I don't know if it is as old as it seems, but I would plant succulents and make a fairy garden. If it's an antique, in my opion, I would put it together and keep it in the house. I don't know how much you paid for it, either. That might make a difference, too. You've got lots of ideas! have fun with it!

If not worth restoring, I'd turn the frame into a rolling plant cart and use it to take plants in and outdoors in the spring as they are being hardened off. If you are able to fix up the top portion ( and take it on and off easily) it could be used to transport outdoor entertaining supplies ( rather than make a dozen trips each time you want to eat or entertain outdoors.
  • Debra L. Colombo Debra L. Colombo on Aug 05, 2014
It would work great in a nursery(baby blankets & other supplies) or in the play room(for 'friends & babies), in any room in place of the bassinet/cradle as they can't be used that long & this one is PORTABLE!!
